11.7% of the forest zone area remains as intact forest landscapes. IFL area - 1,000,000 km2.

Region contains 8% of the world's IFL.

More than 93% of all IFL in the region is controlled by Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon and Cameroon.

23 countries in the region have lost all their intact forests, while 10 countries (Madagascar, Liberia, Tanzania, Cote d'Ivoire, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Angola, Uganda and Zambia) retain less then 10% of their forest areas as IFL.

8.7% of intact forest areas are located in strictly protected areas.

More then 93% of all IFL in the region are part of the tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest biome.

Less than 1% of tropical savanna and woodland biomes remain as IFL.
